The design tools in action

MakerStudio — trace an image
Import a bitmap, trace it, and every shape comes out as an editable vector you can select, recolour or cut on its own.
MakerStudio — shape generator · closed box
Type the outside dimensions in millimetres; the generator lays out all six finger-jointed sides, allowing for material thickness and burn (kerf).
MakerStudio — automatic nesting
Set the sheet, press start, and nesting fits the parts for you — 137 of 137 placed here, at 77% material efficiency.

Management — the coach's view

Everything the class makes, in one place

MakerStudio — Riverside STEAM School · coach dashboard
Learners, teams, activities and files for the whole school. Available with institutional MakerStudio subscriptions. Fictional data shown.
MakerStudio — files · Design a Nametag 7A
Filter the files by activity, review the class's work, then select all and import it into one design — ready to nest and cut in a single job. Fictional data shown.
Institutional subscriptions

The laser cutter controller — part of the Fabrication pillar, available with institutional MakerStudio subscriptions.

Fabrication — machine control

Send jobs straight to the machine

Position the design on the bed, set the job origin, frame it and start the cut from one connected control panel — no separate software to install.

Why I created MakerStudio
"After more than ten years of working with schools and digital fabrication, I repeatedly saw the same challenge: children were excited to make things, but the software often created an unnecessary barrier. I created MakerStudio to make design and fabrication more accessible to young makers while giving educators the tools they need to manage learners, machines and fabrication workflows."
— Stijn De Mil, founder
